INSTRUCTIONS TO THE MONITOR/EVALUATOR
1. The candidate shall be provided with a salvage cover. 2. The candidate shall be provided with assistance in performing this task but the assistant shall only do what they are instructed to do by the candidate. 3. The candidate shall be given the instructions below before beginning the task.

INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CANDIDATE
1. “The candidate, given a salvage cover and furniture, shall demonstrate a salvage cover roll for a one-person salvage cover spread. The assistant present can only do what the candidate instructs him/her to do.”

1. Lays the cover out flat on a clean surface. |

|
2. Positions him/herself at the edge of the cover along a short side. |

|
|||||
|
3. Locates the center point along the edge of the cover. |
|
|
|||||

4. Grasps the cover with the hand on the side to be folded midway between the center and the edge. |
|
|
|||||
|
5. Places the other hand as a pivot point midway between the outside hand and the center. |
|
|
|||||
|
6. Brings the fold over to the center. |
|
|
|||||
|
7. Cluster furniture. |
|
|
|||||
|
8. Brings the outside edge over to the center and places it on top of and in line with the previously placed fold. |
|
|
|||||
|
9. Folds the other half of the cover in the same manner as steps 2 through 6. |
|
|
|||||
|
10. Rolls tightly from one end to the other. |
|
|
|||||
|
11. Straightens out as necessary and completes the roll folding the end over about 12". |

2. Makes several accordion folds in the inside hands and place outside hands about midway down the hem. |

3. Places the outside foot on the hem on the floor and pulls the cover tight between the firefighters doing the spread. |

4. While holding the cover, swings the folded part down, up and out with one sweeping motion. |

|

5. When the cover is as high as can be reached, the accordion folds are pitched or carried across the objects. |

6. Cluster furniture. |

7. Straightens the cover to ensure that materials are covered. |

8. Folds the cover in half from the side of the cover and smoothes wrinkles. |

9. Continues folding the cover in half until the cover is small enough to carry. |

1. Candidate shall be provided with a structure with a gas meter or a simulated gas meter located at a structure. (Meters located at the evaluation site may be used in this objective) 2. The candidate shall be given the instructions below before beginning the exercise.

1. “The candidate, given a facility with a natural gas meter shall demonstrate procedures for shutting off the gas supply to the structure.” 2. “The candidate shall wear full PPE.”
