INSTRUCTIONS TO THE MONITOR/EVALUATOR

 

1.  The candidate shall be provided with a work sheet and a current edition of the Emergency Response  

     Guidebook.

2.  The candidate shall be given the instructions below before beginning the task.

3.  All items are Critical Steps - Failure on any step mandates failure on the entire objective!

 

INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CANDIDATE

 

  1. “The candidate, given a work sheet and the current edition of the ERG, shall look up the requested information on the work sheet and then record it onto the work sheet in the corresponding location.
  2. The candidate cannot request any help during this exercise.

    1.  Identify the three methods for determining the guide page for a hazardous material.           

 

 

    2.  Identify the two general types of hazards found on each page.

 

 

    3.  Given the identity of a various hazardous materials (name, UN/NA identification number, or

         type placard), identify the following response information:

 

 

    3.a. Emergency action (fire, spill, or leak and first aid)

 

 

    3.b. Personal protective equipment necessary.

 

 

    3.c. Initial isolation and protective action distance

 

 

    4.Given the name of a hazardous material, identify the recommended personal protective  

        equipment from the following list:

        Street clothing and work uniforms

        Structural fire-fighting protective clothing

        Positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus

        Chemical-protective clothing and equipment

 

 

    5. First responder at the awareness level shall identify the shapes of a recommended initial

           isolation and protective action zones.

 

 

    6. First responder at the awareness level shall list the difference between small and large spills

      as found in the table of initial isolation and protective action distances in the ERG .

 

 

    7. First responder at the awareness shall identify the circumstances under which the following 

        distances are used at a hazardous materials incident:

7.a. Table of initial isolation and protective action distances.

7.b. Isolation distance in the numbered guides

1.  The candidate shall be provided with an Emergency Response Guidebook.

2.  The candidate shall be shown a placard for product ID.

3.  The candidate shall be given the instructions below before beginning the task.

 

INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CANDIDATE

 

  1. “The candidate, given the latest version of the ERG and an UN number, shall identify a product by name and identify the appropriate emergency guide.”

1.  The candidate shall be provided with an Emergency Response Guidebook.

2.  The candidate shall be shown a visual scenario, either photo or slide and given a product ID.

3.  The candidate shall be given the instructions below before beginning the task.

  1. “The candidate, given the latest version of the ERG and a UN number, shall identify the appropriate

              emergency action guide and collect proper hazard information for a given scenario.”
